PROJECT ACCOUNTANT- CALGARY

We provide safety coordination, project planning and trained safety personnel for turn-around, construction, drilling and day-to-day field operations.

Bravo Target Safety is looking for a Project Accountant. As a member of the Finance team, the Project Accountant is directly responsible for the financial administration and performance management of large-scale turn-around projects as well as supporting the daily invoicing process of smaller work-order based projects. In addition, the Project Accountant will play a critical role in continuous improvement of our current ERP system. Maintaining optimum working capital on projects, providing daily insight into costs incurred, and utilizing various tools to provide both internal and external cost projections to ensure the projects are delivered on time and on budget will be critical to the success of this role.

Job Duties:

  • Review and maintain contract set up and project coding system in the ERP system
  • Support the Project Manager with the project budgeting process, ensuring that both cost and revenue projections are appropriately captured
  • Provide insight into project-to-date billings and variances against plan to support the change order process
  • Support the Project Manager to ensure the project successfully meets the cost and schedule targets and advise Project Management Team on cost and schedule issues
  • Create, maintain and manage cost forecasting/reporting systems to ensure accuracy and visibility of project estimates and budgets to project scope/objectives
  • Prepare accurate client billing, whether on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis in accordance with project terms and conditions
  • Coordinate the timely receipt and processing of field tickets, working directly with Project Management and on-site resources as required
  • Upload documentation onto third-party invoicing platforms
  • Actively monitor and action outstanding receivable balances, working directly with our clients to resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
  • Coordinate documentation for holdback release including WCB and PST clearances, statutory declarations, etc
  • Proactively identify process improvements for project billing
  • Contribute to the development and support of a strong internal control environment

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
  • Professional accounting designation
  • 5+ years of Project Accounting experience
  • Hands-on knowledge of billing procedures in the Oil and Gas industry
  • Experience using a large-scale ERP system- Viewpoint by Vista strongly considered an asset
  • Excellent time management and prioritization skills
  • Ability to handle stressful situations
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office software suites, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint as well as Outlook and automated accounting software packages
  • High level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude
  • Ability to adapt to and learn new software
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/ or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts
